Lá Mór na nGaelscoileanna / Scoileanna Gaeltachta

Is clár oideachais neamhiomaíoch do bhunscoileanna é Bleaist Eolaíochta ESB ina bhfiosraíonn an rang iomlán an eolaíocht a bhaineann le ceist shimplí. Cuirtear an obair ranga i láthair ag an ócáid.

Beidh COGG agus An Foras Pátrúnachta, i gcomhpháirt leis an RDS, ag eagrú ‘Lá Mór na nGaelscoileanna / Scoileanna Gaeltachta’ mar chuid den Bhleaist Eolaíochta arís in 2025.
Beidh sé ar siúl ar an 6ú Márta 2025 san RDS. Is deis iontach í seo do pháistí teacht le chéile agus dea-obair s’acu a cheiliúradh le chéile chomh maith le spraoi a bheith acu trí Ghaeilge!

Ní obair bhreise atá i gceist leis an ócáid seo ach gnáthobair ranga a chur i láthair. Bíonn tacaíocht ar fáil ó fhoireann an RDS i rith an ama agus bronnfar gradam ar gach rang a ghlacann páirt ann.
Beidh ceardlanna agus siamsaíochtaí éagsúla ar siúl ar an lá. Is cinnte go mbainfidh na páistí agus na múinteoirí an-tairbhe as.

The ESB Science Blast is a non-competitive educational program for primary schools where the whole class investigates the science of a simple question. The class work is presented at the event.

COGG and An Foras Pátrúnachta, jointly with the RDS, will be organizing 'Lá Mór na n'Gaelscoileanna / Gaeltachta Schools' as part of the Science Blast again in 2025.
It will take place on 6th March 2025 in the RDS. This is a great opportunity for children to come together and celebrate their good work together as well as have fun through Irish!

This event is not extra work but a presentation of normal class work. Support is available from the RDS staff throughout the time and each class that takes part will be awarded an award.
Various workshops and entertainment will take place on the day. The children and the teachers will definitely benefit from it.

‘Creating the right plan, for the right child, at the right time.’

Every Student, Every Teacher, Every Year

City Connects is an initiative that began in Boston College in the 1990s, and since then has extended to other cities. Scoil Chaoimhín is in the fortunate position to be one of the Dublin schools to be partnered with City Connects. In practice, this means we have a full-time City Connects Coordinator embedded within the fabric of the school. The City Connects Coordinator collaborates with teachers in every classroom to review the strengths and needs of every student, every year.

Systemic Support

The City Connects Coordinator creates a tailored support plan for every student –connecting pupils to a comprehensive range of prevention, intervention, and enrichment services that already exist in the school and surrounding community.

Students who are most at risk receive an in-depth review and a broader level of support.

In Scoil Chaoimhín, the City Connects Coordinator is the hub of student support — a single point of contact in an otherwise crowded maze of service providers. This helps to ease the burden on the principal and the teachers, and creates an organized referral process for community-based partners.

City Connects is a high-impact, cost-effective system that addresses the out-of-school factors that limit learning. The support City Connects offer makes a significant impact on students — now, and years from now.

Our City Connects Coordinator is Katie Culkin.

Katie’s contact details are as follows:

Áiseanna/Facilities

The school building and playground are located on the grounds of the Department of Education, in a very secure environment, where there is 24 hour security. The school has a spacious play area and a newly contructed garden complete with an outdoor classroom. The school garden has become an oasis for small garden birds who enjoy to pick on the seeds and berries that our plants provide. We have recently erected a small greenhouse to help us teach the children about the process of growth.

Every classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards and broadband connection. In addition, we have a school library, a general purpose hall, a learning support room, facilities on the playground for football, snakes and ladders, chess and other games
